How I Became a Business Coach

You can have an MBA and still not be an entrepreneur.

You could go to school for two years for an MBA and still not be an entrepreneur. In fact, I might argue that an MBA doesn’t even prepare you to navigate the world of small business.

So what does?

Experience.

I’ve been experiencing the business world since I got my first part-time job at 14. And every job and club and activity and interest I pursued since then made me the business coach I am today.

But I didn’t want to become a business coach.

After years of working in marketing, I actually tried to leave that world behind.

I went to work for myself as a tarot reader and herbalist, and you know what happened? People kept coming to me for business advice. What shone through as I was promoting my courses and products were my business and marketing skills, and that’s what folks really needed from me.

Often, if you take a step back, you’ll see that the jobs you’ve held, the clubs you’ve been in, and the recreational activities you’ve chosen combine to give you an incredibly unique skill set. One that makes you perfect for a job you may not even know you want.

In this episode I talk about the life and work experiences that got me to where I am today, and the ongoing learning that goes into successfully coaching business owners.

Tune in so you can take a step back, review your own life experiences, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll discover a set of skills and a future that you hadn’t even thought to dream of.
