Alright alright, we are way overdue for a newsletter. Unfortunately I got sick as soon as I returned from vacation and I do not have the bandwidth for anything particularly, uh, think-y. So here is the first official Chappell Report (you can pronounce it "Chappelle Rapport" if that makes you happy), aka the things that I'm into this week.

I operate my newsletter under a few assumptions rooted in my nature that help me to have fun with this project:

  • I like depth, so some other people like depth. (In that case go read something else I wrote, this ain't it.).

  • I'm a bit of a nosy voyeur, so some other people are nosy voyeurs. (This one is for you!)

  • I like to read a lot so the ideal clients for my work probably like to read, too. (Good for you because there is only reading material in this one.)

So today we're focusing on you being nosy, and having some interest in what I'm interested in.

I'm slowly, reluctantly coming around to the fact that the majority of the writing that I enjoy is on Substack now. (I'm on the record as a Substack hater fwiw primarily due to their business model and weird messaging.) This doesn't matter too much except that it prompts me to consider whether I want to do some work there, and whether despite the financial issues that I perceive it may truly be taking the place of some of the social media that has previously created the best connections for me. Just in the past few weeks I loved:
